The four elements that make up all that is, everything we see around us and everything we are. Each holding very different properties, these elements govern how we live our lives. There are many ways in which we can connect and balance these elements within our bodies; food, yoga asana, meditation, nature or crystals are just a few.
When addressing these elements there are two main things to consider:
Do you need to create more of this element?
Do you need to balance this element because you have too much of it present?
By keeping the four elements in our awareness on a daily basis, we initiate a deeper internal healing which allows us to access an energy that is essential for growth and change.

C L A S S E S ?
During this weeks classes we will be focusing on the Earth Element, this element is found in our Root Chakra (Muladhara) located at the base of our spines (linking nicely from last weeks focus if I do say so myself). This element is associated with feeling safe, resilient, strong and grounded, an imbalanced earth element can cause anxiety, paranoia, fragility, moodiness, and forgetfulness.
In order to establish this connection we will be slowing down our practice (now that doesn't mean it will be easy) to build strength and stability we will hold postures for three to five breaths with very little 'flow'. Building our awareness through physical contact with the earth with balancing postures and our warrior variations. We will also be looking a little deeper into pranayama and having a play with Ujjayi breath!
If you cannot make classes this week get yourself outside, bare feet to the ground and connect to mother earth, eat lots of root vegetables and tell yourself every morning "My foundations are strong, I am safe and centred".
